I was thinking of speaking to my local Physician about prescription drugs that may help me quit smoking. I would like some recommendations if possible and any personnal experiences would be very helpfull as well.

Champix is the newest prescription and is supposedly the best although being newer, not as many people have used it. Bupropion, known as Zyban or Wellbutrin is also widely used and effective. It has been around for years. Adding a nicotine supplement (patches, gum, inhaler) when you first quit can also help ease the transition to not smoking. Good luck.

The very first thing you must do is commit yourself to the fact that you are going to quit. If you really don’t want to quit then you won’t. I still smoke and I have tried to quit a few times with the patch that my doctor prescribed to me. I was smoking just as much with the patch on then without it. I was taking a pill called wellbutrin that gave me results because it made smoking taste really bad along with everything else, so I quit that. the chewing gum gave me the best results because it kept my mouth moving and something for my hands to do instead of handling a cigarette. I kept shoving more and more into my mouth when I started to crave the smoke. But alas, I still smoke. So it comes back to being motivated to quit and really wanting to and trying hard. good luck
